Design Week is back and is more regional than ever. It is also very prominently sponsored by Crown Paints.
This year’s event comes in the wake of Dublin’s (sadly unsuccessful) bid for World Design Capital 2014, with the design-fancying masses nicely warmed up by the hard work of the Pivot Dublin team.
Events this year include exhibitions, pecha kucha style talks and conferences. The best source for information on these events is the Design Week booklet, created by Associate and available for download from the Design Week site.

Dyson Student Creativity Day 2011
This year, the Tullamore Court Hotel plays host to The Dyson Student Creativity Day. This multi-disciplinary event brings design students from all over Ireland together in a day-long design challenge. The Irish Dyson Award will also be presented as part of the day.

UD Flash Conference: Universal Design in Irish Education and the Universal Design Challenge Awards Programme
This one’s a two-parter with a conference run by the Centre for Excellence in Universal Design, part of the National Disability Authority of Ireland and in collaboration with the Royal College of Art (UK) Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design and Designhub, Co. Offaly, followed by the Universal Design Challenge Awards Programme.
The conference takes place in the Tullamore Court Hotel and will see six speakers present on projects to integrate Universal Design ideas into second and third level education in Ireland. After the conference, the Universal Design Challenge Competition will take place, with design teams presenting their ideas and competing for awesome prizes.
